My friends and I helped at a Filipino can drive in the city of Torrence in order to raise money for those affected by Typhoon Haiyan. We helped by donating and sorting cans. Afterward, we sang the theme song for the Voices of the Guardian Angels, a non-profit organization that aims at providing money for the less fortunate in the Philippines. Everyone was very thankful for our service and our beautiful voices inspiring the community to help those in need during the holiday season.
Over the course of two lunch periods, I helped COHS Biology Club start up their recycling program. One period consisted of folding and forming the black cardboard recycle bins as well as cleaning these had been used. The second time I volunteered we took out the trash bags with the cans and gave them to Ms. Grund. We also cleaned the bins once more before distributing them around the school. The one obstacle with the recycle bins is the sticky residue from soda cans or juice boxes, but it was an all in all great service opportunity.
